 About Me, Myself, & I

Hello! My name is Sarah Lynn Sharpton. I am a current Senior at Auburn University, majoring in Event Management with a minor in Business. Ever since I was little, I have had a passion for planning. Eager to plan my families vacations to Disney world, I soon began planning vacations for friends and neighbors! When it came time for college, I had no idea Event Management was an actual major! Planning special events had always been just a hobby to me, so the thought of being able to pursue a career in this field was a dream! After changing my major from Nursing to Event Management (sorry Mom), everything became clear, and I had a plan! Although I do not know which type of events I want to plan for a career, whether it be weddings, vacations, or athletic events, I know I will always be happy with my decision no matter how hard times get!

Educational Experience

Food Production Final Meal Fall 2018

My first semester of Sophomore year, I enrolled in Food Production. To this day, that class has by far been my favorite Hospitality class taken. During regular class days we would have normal lectures with powerpoints but on Lab days we would learn the ins and outs of a new dish and be able to make it ourselves. Towards the end of the course, as a class we had to design a menu and create a 3 Course Meal that we would have to execute ourselves and serve to our family and friends at the Hotel at Auburn University. My group was in charge of desserts, and we made a mean banana pudding. Through this course I not only learned multiple cooling skills, but I made many friendships I feel as I will have for the rest of my life.

Me & My Girls

Camp Indian Springs 2019

Summer of 2019, I was given the opportunity to lead a group of 7-8 Year Old Girls at Camp Indian Springs. These girls taught me more about friendship and respect than I would gain an entire semester at Auburn. Along with being a counselor, I was able to help coordinate and plan the Camp's "Star Search" Production at the end of the year for the camper's parents. This unexpected opportunity helped me become a better person as well as a better event planner.

Writing Samples/Projects

Please feel free to view two of my favorite projects from the past 2.5 years as a Hospitality Student at Auburn University. It is important to notice the difference in maturity of the project from Freshman year to Junior Year.

Extracurricular Activities

Auburn Panhellenic Assistant Director of Greek Sing

Sophomore Year, I had the honor of being a Greek Sing Chair for my sorority, Delta Gamma. This past year, I served Auburn Panhellenic as Assistant Director of Greek Sing, and automatically served as Director of Greek Sing this year. To be able to combine my passion for planning and dancing is a dream come true. As Assistant Director, I helped and assist with planning the entire program of Greek Sing as well as working closely with Habitat for Humanity.

The video above is Delta Gamma's performance from Greek Sing last year. You can spot me pretty easily, as I am the main Girlscout!
